Abroad: Ghanaian midfielder charged with two counts of rape

Ghanaian midfielder, Kingsley Sarfo who joined Swedish side, Malmo in June 2017 is going to be prosecuted for two counts of statutory rape of a minor. He is accused of committing the crimes in September 2016 and June 2017.

Kingsley Sarfo guilty of rape in Sweden

Prosecutor Rikard Darell announced that he had enough evidence to prosecute Sarfo in Malmo after a series of investigations and interrogations.

"Now the investigation is complete and I think I have sufficient reason for prosecution.The evidence consists largely of contacts between suspect and plaintiff on social media. In addition, a series of interrogations, including witnesses, has been carried out.” - Rikard Darell

The 23-year-old midfielder has been in custody since February is currently suspended by his club and receives no salary. He admitted to having sex with the minor but denies committing a crime as he thought she was older.
